We were hired by the bespoke joinery firm Jackson Stone to provide the entertainment for their Christmas party at the unique Gasoline Juice venue in Weedon Bec. To complement the venue's automotive memorabilia and industrial aesthetic, we installed a custom winter-themed digital track complete with snow effects. The activation engaged the team for five hours of continuous racing, culminating in a highly competitive leader board battle where precision was key.
Summary
We partnered with Jackson Stone to elevate their annual Christmas celebration held at the historic Royal Ordnance Depot. The venue, Gasoline Juice, is famous for its "human cave" vibe and automotive art, making it the ideal setting for a premium Scalextric installation. We designed a custom winter-themed circuit, featuring snow-dusted fir trees and scenery, to create a festive focal point that respected the venue's unique character. The event saw the client’s team of precision craftsmen transfer their attention to detail onto the track, resulting in five hours of non-stop competitive action. Our digital telemetry system became the centre of attention, tracking lap times down to the millisecond and fuelling friendly rivalries. The night ended with a nail-biting finish, with the winner taking the top spot by a mere 0.10 seconds. This project demonstrated how effectively a themed track can integrate into a stylised venue to create a cohesive and immersive guest experience.
Challenge
The primary challenge for this event was maintaining high energy levels and engagement over a particularly long five-hour session. Corporate parties can sometimes suffer from lulls in activity, so the entertainment needed to be addictive enough to hold the attention of the entire group for the duration. Additionally, the venue was visually rich with neon signs and memorabilia; our setup needed to stand out without clashing with the existing "cool" aesthetic. We also had to manage a highly competitive group of colleagues where the rivalry was intense, requiring strict but fun race stewardship. Finally, the installation had to be completed within a specific footprint to allow flow within the industrial space.
Solutions
We addressed the aesthetic challenge by curating a specific winter theme with lighting that complemented the room’s iconic blue neon glow rather than fighting against it. To sustain interest over five hours, we utilized a high-visibility digital leader board that turned the "Fastest Lap" challenge into a spectator sport, ensuring the track remained the room's social hub. The precision timing system was crucial; by tracking down to the millisecond, we validated the competitive nature of the guests, motivating them to keep racing to shave off fractions of a second. We managed the flow by offering a "drop-in" racing format, allowing guests to race, grab a drink, and return to defend their titles. This approach resulted in a margin of victory of just 0.10 seconds, proving the engagement remained high until the very end.
